Visitor Centre
The Fordyce Bathhouse, opened in 1915 and located on Bathhouse Row within Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, is the park’s visitor center and museum today.
Designed by Little Rock architects Mann and Stern and cost over $212,000 to build, the 28,000-square-foot building was the largest and one of the most opulent bathhouses on the row, featuring three floors, two courtyards, and a basement. It operated as a bathhouse until 1962 before being restored and reopened in 1989 as a historic site where visitors can explore rooms furnished as they were during its operational days.
The museum provides exhibits on the history of thermal bathing, the geology of the thermal springs, and the evolution of Bathhouse Row, augmented with interactive displays and ranger-led programs.
It stands as a testament to the spa culture that made Hot Springs a nationally renowned health resort and remains a key cultural and educational attraction within the park.
