Botanical Garden
The Garvan Woodland Gardens Children's Garden Treehouse, known as the Evans Tree House, is an interactive and educational structure located within the Evans Children's Adventure Garden at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Completed in 2018, this treehouse is designed to reconnect children with nature through a tactile and visually rich environment that highlights the study of trees and wooded plants. The treehouse features a semi-transparent screen made of thermalized Southern Yellow Pine sourced from Arkansas, creating a form that blends naturally with the surrounding forest canopy of native pines and oaks.
It consists of multiple levels representing different parts of a tree such as roots, trunk, branches, and leaves, offering children an adventure that combines play with learning about the life cycle of trees. The structure provides sensory experiences through creative light and shadow play, sound, and exploration of natural materials, making it a magical and meaningful attraction within the 210-acre botanical garden.
It was privately funded and designed to accommodate diverse users, serving as both an outdoor classroom and an architectural marvel in the Ouachita Mountains.
