Greenhill Vineyards is a boutique winery located just east of Middleburg, Virginia, on a historic 128-acre estate that has been a working farm since 1762.
The property was originally called Swedenburg Estate Vineyard, founded in 1988 by Wayne and Juanita Swedenburg, who were early pioneers in Virginia winemaking. They planted some of the first vineyards in Northern Virginia, focusing on varietals such as Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir, inspired by their experiences in France.
In 2013, entrepreneur David Greenhill purchased the estate and expanded its vineyards, including additional land in Amherst County. Greenhill Vineyards is known for producing high-quality wines exclusively from Virginia grapes, embracing both historic practices and innovative techniques to highlight the region’s terroir.
The estate features a stone manor house dating back to 1762 that serves as a private tasting room for wine club members, and its elegant tasting facilities and scenic views contribute to a sophisticated wine experience in Virginia's hunt country.
