Mountain Peak
Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas rises to an elevation of 1,011 feet above sea level and is the second-highest natural point in Pulaski County.
It stands prominently between the Maumelle and Little Maumelle Rivers in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. Known for its distinctive cone shape, the mountain offers scenic panoramic views of nearby Lake Maumelle, the Arkansas River Valley, and surrounding mountains. Geologically, it consists mainly of hard quartzitic sandstone called Jackfork Sandstone, which dates back approximately 275 million years to the formation of the Ouachita Mountains.
The mountain is the central feature of Pinnacle Mountain State Park, which covers over 2,300 acres and offers more than 33 miles of hiking trails, including two popular summit trails. Climbers can also test their skills on natural sandstone routes, while visitors enjoy the area's diverse habitats and scenic outdoor activities.
