Anna Ruby Falls

Anna Ruby Falls, Georgia, United States

Waterfall

Anna Ruby Falls in Helen, Georgia, is a striking twin waterfall in the Chattahoochee National Forest, formed by Curtis Creek dropping 153 feet and York Creek cascading 50 feet to merge into Smith Creek at Tray Mountain's base.

Named for Anna Ruby Nichols, cherished daughter of post-Civil War landowner Captain John H. Nichols who discovered the falls on horseback, the site passed through logging eras before U.S. government protection in 1925 created its 1,600-acre scenic area.

Reachable via an easy 0.8-mile round-trip paved trail from the visitor center off Highway 356, it draws crowds for its thunderous roar, wildflowers, and riparian beauty near Unicoi State Park.
