Art Museum
The Boise Art Museum, located inside Julia Davis Park at 670 Julia Davis Drive in Boise, Idaho, was originally established as the Boise Gallery of Art in 1937 through a partnership between the Boise Art Association, the City of Boise, and the Federal Works Progress Administration.
The building showcases a blend of Art Deco and Egyptian Revival architectural styles, reflecting the design trends of the 1930s. Over decades, the museum expanded and was renamed Boise Art Museum in 1988, shifting its focus to building a permanent collection and offering educational programming. Its collection includes contemporary realism, modern and contemporary ceramics, and the largest public collection of works by Idaho outsider artist James Charles Castle.
The museum regularly hosts traveling exhibitions and special installations and serves as a vital cultural institution dedicated to fine arts in the Treasure Valley. It also provides art studios, a sculpture court, and educational programs, making it a dynamic hub for artistic engagement in the region.
