Science Museum
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, New Hampshire, is a science museum and planetarium dedicated to two of the state's most famous astronauts: Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher selected to go to space, and Alan Shepard, the first American astronaut and Moonwalker.
It began in 1990 as the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium and expanded in 2009 to include interactive exhibits on astronomy, aviation, Earth, and space science, adopting the current name to honor both pioneers. The center features a full-sized replica of a Mercury-Redstone rocket, a digital planetarium, an observatory, and various educational programs designed to inspire curiosity about space and science.
It became a nonprofit organization in 2013 and continues to serve as a key educational resource in the region with hands-on exhibits, public events, and outreach programs.
