Botanical Garden

Fuller Gardens in North Hampton, New Hampshire, is a public botanical garden on the seacoast created in 1927 by Massachusetts Governor Alvan T. Fuller as part of his summer estate Runnymede-by-the-Sea, initially designed by landscape architect Arthur A. Shurtleff and later enhanced in the 1930s by the Olmsted Brothers firm with formal rose gardens honoring his wife Viola.

Spanning three acres near the ocean and framed by sculpted hedges, it showcases 1,700 rose bushes in hundreds of varieties blooming from late June through October, alongside English perennial borders, a serene Japanese garden, tropical and desert conservatory, tulip and annual beds, hosta garden, dahlia displays, and statuary collected from Europe.

Open daily mid-May to mid-October as a nonprofit preserving one of America's last working early 20th-century estate gardens, it offers peaceful strolls, sea breezes, and horticultural events amid the carriage house backdrop from the original estate.
