Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, opened in 2007 in Boothbay, Maine, is the largest botanical garden in New England, covering nearly 300 acres of rocky coastal forest and nearly a mile of tidal saltwater frontage.
The gardens began as a grassroots effort in 1991 by a group of MidCoast residents who envisioned a world-class public garden showcasing plants native to Maine and those suited to its northern coastal climate. The garden features 17 distinct themed and ornamental garden areas, including the Haney Hillside Garden, Vayo Meditation Garden, and the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses, alongside natural landscapes and stunning waterfront views.
