Winery
Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards is a family-owned winery located on the North Shore of Lake Chelan in Washington, established in 2005 by Judy and Don Phelps.
The winery is named after the colorful local history involving a brothel and rowboat taxi service that once operated in the area, giving it a playful and risqué branding reflected in its wine names and tasting room decor. It was the first vineyard in north-central Washington to earn both LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon-Safe certifications, emphasizing sustainable and environmentally responsible farming.
Hard Row to Hoe grows over a dozen grape varietals, including Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Riesling, producing estate wines known for their quality and expression of the Lake Chelan terroir. The winery offers a unique tasting experience blending storytelling, natural beauty, and bold wines, making it a notable destination in the Lake Chelan wine region.
