Route
H.B. Van Duzer Forest State Scenic Corridor is a 12-mile protected forest strip along Oregon Route 18 in Lincoln, Tillamook, and Polk Counties, USA, connecting northwestern Polk County to Lincoln City through the dense Northern Oregon Coast Range.
Named for Henry B. Van Duzer, the first chairman of the Oregon State Parks Commission appointed in 1929, the land was purchased by the state between 1935 and 1942 and is managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, featuring old-growth Douglas-fir forests along the Salmon River with rest stops for picnicking, short walking paths, wildlife viewing of Roosevelt elk, deer, and salmon, and a swimming hole one mile east of the main entrance reached by trail.
This free, scenic driving route offers serene escapes amid towering trees, ideal for travelers seeking nature breaks without facilities beyond picnic areas, open year-round for photography and peaceful stops.
