Historical Landmark
Jack London State Historic Park preserves Jack London’s former "Beauty Ranch" in Glen Ellen, a roughly 1,400‑acre landscape of vineyards, oak woodlands and ranch buildings where the writer lived, farmed and wrote from 1905 until his death in 1916.
The site includes the House of Happy Walls museum, the cottage where London lived, the dramatic ruins of his uncompleted Wolf House, trails (about 20–29 miles reported) that lead to London Lake and scenic Sonoma Mountain vistas, and interpretive exhibits and docent tours that explain his life, agricultural experiments and local history.
Visitors can hike, picnic and join guided programs; the park charges a vehicle entrance fee, maintains limited on‑site hours for the museum and cottage, and recommends allowing a few hours to see the main features and trails.
