Casino/Resort
Kah-Nee-Ta Resort and Spa, owned by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, is located on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in central Oregon near the Warm Springs River, about 100 miles southeast of Portland, renowned for its natural hot springs used historically by tribes for healing.
Developed starting in the 1960s after the tribes repurchased the site from a non-Native owner, it expanded with pools, tepees, a lodge, golf course, and in 1995 added Indian Head Casino nearby before combining into Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort & Casino in 2001, but closed abruptly in 2018 due to financial issues.
Reopened in July 2024 after a $4.5 million tribal investment, the reimagined property now focuses on hot springs soaking pools at 92-104 degrees, a lazy river, teepee RV sites, a 30-room village hotel, hiking, pickleball, and outdoor adventures in the high desert, without emphasizing gaming in its current phase.
