The Capitol's interior is richly decorated with white Georgia marble, gray Tennessee marble, and dark green Italian marble, and features grand staircases modeled after those of the Opéra Garnier in Paris. The rotunda showcases bronze statues of prominent Kentuckians including Abraham Lincoln and Henry Clay, among others.
The grounds were designed by the Olmsted Brothers, renowned landscape architects, who crafted formal gardens and terraces that enhance the building's stately presence. The Capitol houses the offices of the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, and attorney general, along with chambers for the state legislature and the Supreme Court. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a symbol of Kentucky’s government, history, and architectural heritage.
