History Museum
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History is located in the historic Tower Building of the Little Rock Arsenal, the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur, and is one of the oldest surviving structures in central Arkansas.
The building was originally constructed in 1840 as part of a military installation designed to defend the frontier. The museum, which opened in 2001, interprets Arkansas's military heritage from its territorial period through to modern conflicts, showcasing artifacts, photographs, weapons, uniforms, and documents that highlight the contributions of Arkansas men and women in the armed forces.
The museum covers a wide range of wars, from the Civil War to World War II and the Korean War, with notable exhibits dedicated to MacArthur himself and the Battle of Little Rock. It serves as a tribute to the state’s rich military history and offers free admission to the public, allowing visitors to explore important stories of military service connected to Arkansas.
