Rising Tide Brewing Company, founded in 2010 by husband and wife Nathan and Heather Sanborn, is a family-owned craft brewery located in Portland, Maine's East Bayside neighborhood.
Nathan, a former stay-at-home dad and graphic designer, found his passion for brewing through homebrewing, while Heather, a former attorney, joined full-time as Director of Business Operations in 2012. The brewery started on One Industrial Way and later expanded to a larger location on Fox Street, growing production and adding a tasting room after changes to Maine law allowed it. Rising Tide is known for its traditional American and European-style beers, with its best-selling brand being the Maine Island Trail Ale, launched to support coastal conservation.
The brewery has been an important part of Portland's craft beer scene, emphasizing quality and community, and hosts a kitchen called The Galley serving fresh food alongside its beer. In recent years, Rising Tide was acquired by Oxbow Brewing Company, but remains committed to its original values and maintaining its identity in the vibrant local brewing landscape.
