Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont opened in December 1961 with three double chairlifts and quickly grew to become one of the premier ski destinations in the region.

Known as the birthplace of snowboarding on the East Coast, Stratton was the first major resort to allow snowboarding and hosted the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships for 27 years.
