Winery
Tabor Hill Winery and Restaurant in Buchanan, Michigan, was founded in the late 1960s and played a pioneering role in the development of Michigan’s wine industry by introducing European vinifera grape varieties to the region.
Its founder, Len Olson, planted the first French-American hybrid grapes in 1967, setting the stage for handcrafted, vineyard-focused wines that changed winemaking in Southwest Michigan. The winery grew through various ownerships and continued to expand its vineyards to nearly 60 acres, producing over 80 different varieties of wine grapes. Known for its exceptional wines, Tabor Hill gained national recognition when its Vidal Blanc was served at the White House in 1971.
The adjacent restaurant offers farm-to-table cuisine using local ingredients and overlooks the scenic vineyards, making it a popular destination for dining and wine tasting. Today, part of the Moersch Hospitality Group, Tabor Hill continues to celebrate its legacy of quality.
