Nestled in a historic agricultural area with glacial moraines, meadows, wetlands, bogs, and fens, it hosts rare plants like horned bladderwort and round-leaved sundew, the endangered spotted turtle, and birds such as dickcissels, bobolinks, and Henslow's sparrows.
Activities abound year-round, including unlimited horsepower boating, fishing from an accessible pier, swimming at a camper's beach, camping at 111 sites (89 electric), hiking and multi-use trails for horseback riding and biking, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife viewing.
