Buryanek Recreation Area in Gregory County, South Dakota, sits along the shores of Lake Francis Case on the Missouri River, about 20 miles northwest of Platte off SD Highway 44 near Burke.
This year-round park features 44 electrical campsites, three camping cabins, showers, flush and vault toilets, a dump station, boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and shoreline access for boating, fishing walleye and perch, swimming, kayaking, and wildlife viewing.
Created in 1968 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and tied to Lewis and Clark's expedition where expedition member George Shannon was lost for weeks, it offers open prairie camping with fire rings and picnic tables amid scenic bluffs.
