Copper Falls State Park spans 3,068 acres near Mellen in Ashland County, northern Wisconsin, celebrated for its ancient lava flows, deep gorges carved by the Bad River and Tyler Forks, and stunning waterfalls like 29-foot Copper Falls, 30-foot Brownstone Falls, and Red Granite Falls. Established in 1929 with historic 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps log buildings adding rustic charm, it features the 1.7-mile Doughboy’s Nature Trail, 14 miles of hiking paths including North Country Trail segments, Loon Lake for swimming and paddling, mountain biking, fishing, picnicking, and winter skiing on 22 miles of groomed classic trails plus 7.4 miles of skate skiing.
