Park
Cowans Gap State Park spans 1,085 acres in the scenic Allens Valley of Fulton and Franklin Counties, Pennsylvania, just off PA Route 75 near Fort Loudon between Chambersburg and McConnellsburg.
Nestled amid Buchanan State Forest with Tuscarora Mountain to the east and Cove Mountain to the west, it centers on a 42-acre lake built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s for boating, fishing trout bass and catfish, and seasonal swimming.
The park offers two campgrounds, ten rustic CCC cabins without plumbing, miles of hiking trails, picnicking, hunting, and year-round access to surrounding forests for birdwatching ice fishing and winter exploration.
