Park
Crescent Beach State Park lies along a stunning mile-long crescent-shaped sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, just eight miles south of Portland.
Opened in 1966 after land acquisitions including donations from local corporations, it offers swimming and sunbathing in relatively warm waters with light surf, sea kayaking, fishing, picnic tables and grills, a playground, cold-water showers, and trails through beach grass dunes, meadows, old apple orchards, wooded areas, and rocky coves for hiking and nature watching.
Adjacent to Kettle Cove State Park, it provides year-round access from 9 a.m. to sunset with winter cross-country skiing, protecting nesting piping plovers while delivering classic Maine coastal recreation.
