Cross Ranch State Park covers 569 acres along the Missouri River's west bank in Oliver County, North Dakota, nine miles south of Washburn, adjacent to a 6,000-acre nature preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy featuring roaming bison herds.
It preserves one of the state's last free-flowing, undeveloped river stretches with mixed-grass prairie, floodplain forests, and woody draws, evoking landscapes seen by Native Americans and Lewis and Clark. Nearly 17 miles of trails support year-round hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing.
Access to the preserve, plus boating from a ramp, canoe/kayak rentals, fishing for walleye, pike, and bass, primitive and RV camping, cabins, yurts, showers, a visitor center, playgrounds, and picnic shelters.
