Park
Delaware State Park covers 1,686 acres of woodlands, meadows, and wetlands around a 1,300-acre lake in Delaware County, Ohio, formed by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood control dam on the Olentangy River completed in 1951 and dedicated as a park the following year.
Once home to Delaware Indians and later featuring Fort Morrow as a settler refuge, it now blends fertile till plains with Columbus limestone outcrops amid farmlands, attracting white-tailed deer, squirrels, rabbits, songbirds, and waterfowl. Year-round recreation includes boating and a marina, fishing, an 800-foot swimming beach, a 200-site campground, hiking trails like Mink Run, disc golf, picnicking, hunting, birdwatching, playgrounds, a dog park, and winter activities.
