Park
Delta Meadows State Park (often called Delta Meadows or Delta Meadows River Park) is an undeveloped riparian and slough landscape in the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta near Locke that preserves a rare remnant of pre‑settlement delta habitat with willow, cottonwood, walnut and valley‑oak stands interlaced by tidal sloughs and wet meadows.
The roughly 470–520 acre park is primarily accessed by small boat (there is a small unimproved launch) or by a short levee road from River Road, and it’s popular for quiet wildlife viewing, paddling, fishing, and walking the levees where you can see river otters, beavers, deer and many waterbirds on the Pacific Flyway.
Facilities are minimal or nonexistent—no visitor center, few parking spaces, no restrooms at the launch—so visitors must pack out trash, use the small gravel launch for hand‑powered boats, and plan for variable water levels and seasonal access conditions.
Management focuses on preserving intact delta processes and habitat; the site supports restoration work and is valued as one of the last places that shows the Delta’s landscape before large‑scale reclamation, so check local access notes and seasonal advisories before visiting.
