Park
Estero Bluffs State Park is an undeveloped coastal preserve north of Cayucos that protects about 300–353 acres and roughly four miles of dramatic shoreline made up of low bluffs, sea stacks, intertidal zones, pocket coves (notably Villa Creek), coastal terraces, and wetlands that support sensitive species like the western snowy plover and several marsh and estuarine habitats.
The park offers a roughly 4‑mile bluff trail with several small trailheads and parking areas off Highway 1 where visitors hike, watch whales and shorebirds from the cliffs, explore tidepools at low tide, kayak or fish from sheltered points, and photograph seasonal wildflowers while respecting protected habitat areas.
Facilities are minimal—no restrooms or potable water at some access points—and rules prohibit camping, fires, and off‑trail travel in many areas to protect archaeological sites and fragile ecosystems, so visitors should bring layers for variable coastal weather, stay on designated trails, and check current access information before traveling.
