The park centers on a 93‑acre lake created by a dam completed in 1956, offering a mix of fields, forests, and quiet water that makes it a peaceful spot for day‑use and camping. Visitors can fish and enjoy small‑boat boating on the lake, swim, and use an extensive trail system of about 20 miles that includes hiking, mountain biking, and a segment of the long‑distance Buckeye Trail.
The heavily wooded landscape of stately pines and hardwoods, planted largely by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, supports wildlife watching, picnicking, a nature center, and a large non‑electric campground with hundreds of sites.
