Governor Thompson State Park spans over 2,800 acres of scenic woodlands northwest of Crivitz in northeastern Wisconsin, along the Caldron Falls Flowage of the Peshtigo River with 6 miles of shoreline and smaller kettle lakes like Woods Lake featuring a 150-foot sandy beach. Established in 2000 and named for former Governor Tommy Thompson, it offers 16 miles of hiking trails past striking rock formations, non-motorized boating, fishing, picnicking, a family campground with 100 modern sites (some electric and boat-in), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and abundant wildlife including deer, grouse, and turkey.
