Harrison Bay State Park, Tennessee's first state park established in 1937, covers 1,200 acres along 40 miles of Chickamauga Lake shoreline near Harrison, just north of Chattanooga.
Originally developed by the Tennessee Valley Authority in the 1930s on the site of the submerged town of Harrison and historic Cherokee villages, it features a full-service marina, a Jack Nicklaus-designed Bear Trace Golf Course, RV and tent camping including waterfront sites, hiking and mountain biking trails, and abundant wildlife viewing like bald eagles and waterfowl. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and exploring Civilian Conservation Corps-built structures amid scenic wooded bluffs.
