Iolani Palace in Honolulu, Hawaii, is the only royal palace in the United States and was the official residence and seat of government for the Kingdom of Hawaii from its completion in 1882 until the overthrow of the monarchy in 1893.

Restored in the 1970s, ‘Iolani Palace now operates as a museum and National Historic Landmark symbolizing Hawaiian sovereignty, culture, and history, and it remains a focal point for native Hawaiian identity and activism.
