Reservoir
Jordanelle Reservoir is a man‑made reservoir in Wasatch County, Utah, located just north of Heber City at roughly 6,130–6,190 feet elevation, about 35 miles east of Salt Lake City along the Provo River.
The reservoir covers about 3,050 acres when full and was created in the early 1990s by Jordanelle Dam, part of the Central Utah Project, to store water for irrigation, agriculture, and municipal use along the Wasatch Front as well as to control flooding.
It is best known for recreation on and around its waters, with fishing for species such as rainbow trout, brown trout, yellow perch, largemouth and smallmouth bass, kokanee salmon, and tiger muskie, plus boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, paddleboarding, and shoreline camping within Jordanelle State Park.
The park includes three main recreation areas—Hailstone, Rock Cliff, and Ross Creek—giving easy access to the reservoir from the Heber Valley and nearby towns like Park City.
