Park
Kodachrome Basin State Park is a small, colorful Utah state park located in southern Utah about 20 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon National Park and 12 miles south of Scenic Byway 12, near the town of Cannonville at roughly 5,800 feet elevation.
The park is famous for its 67 tall sandstone spires, called “sedimentary pipes,” that rise from multi‑hued red and pink rock layers, creating a striking and photogenic desert landscape. Visitors come mainly for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding on trails such as the Angels’ Palace, Panorama, and Big Bear Geyser loops, plus stargazing under dark skies just outside more crowded national parks.
The park has a modern campground with dozens of sites, bunkhouses, cottages, a visitor center, restrooms, showers, and a disc‑golf course, making it a popular overnight stop for travelers exploring the Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase–Escalante region.
