Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area is an 803-acre Pennsylvania state park straddling Peters Mountain in Middle Paxton and Wayne Townships, Dauphin County, near Halifax off Pennsylvania Route 225.
Donated in 1998 by conservationist Joseph E. Ibberson—who began acquiring the land in 1962 for a tree farm—and opened to the public in 2000, it preserves a large block of unbroken hardwood forest with species like oak, hickory, maple, and pine that supports wildlife including deer, black bear, turkey, squirrels, grouse, and forest birds.
Managed for low-impact recreation and environmental education, it offers an extensive trail system connecting to the Appalachian Trail for hiking and cross-country skiing, plus hunting opportunities in this peaceful haven of native woodlands.
