Built during the Great Depression by the Works Progress Administration with remnants of the old Ohio and Erie Canal visible, it was dedicated in 1949 amid oak-hickory forests, spring wildflowers, and sandstone outcrops teeming with ferns and fungi.
Water lovers flock here for unlimited horsepower boating from a launch ramp, water skiing, swimming, and fishing bluegill, largemouth bass, crappie, saugeye, catfish—home to Ohio's record spotted bass—plus scenic picnicking and forested hiking trails.
