Park
Limekiln State Park on the Big Sur coast is a compact, dramatic park where towering redwoods, a sandy beach, and a 100-foot waterfall sit within steep coastal canyons, all centered around four surviving 19th‑century lime kilns that give the park its name.
The park offers camping (ocean-view and redwood sites), short hiking trails through redwood groves to Limekiln Falls and the historic kilns, beach access and tide‑watching, and abundant wildlife including shore birds and marine mammals offshore.
Located about two miles south of Lucia on Highway 1, the park was protected in the late 20th century to preserve its ancient groves and cultural remains and is managed by California State Parks with limited facilities and seasonal access guidelines.
