Margaret Mitchell House in Atlanta, Georgia, is a historic Tudor Revival apartment building constructed in 1899 as a single-family home for Cornelius J. Sheehan, later converted into the Crescent Apartments where author Margaret Mitchell lived with her husband John Marsh from 1925 to 1932 in Apartment No. 1.
During that time, Mitchell wrote most of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Gone with the Wind on a rented typewriter amid cramped quarters, recovering from injuries and Atlanta Journal work. Now managed by the Atlanta History Center after fires delayed restoration, the National Register-listed site reopened in 2024 with revamped exhibits on her life, the book's creation, and Atlanta's literary history, offering self-guided tours of the restored apartment and surrounding grounds.
