Park
McLaughlin Eastshore State Park (also called McLaughlin Eastshore State Seashore) is an 8.5‑mile linear park along the eastern shoreline of San Francisco Bay that preserves tidelands, mudflats and upland habitat from the Bay Bridge north to Richmond while providing close‑in public access for walking, biking, birdwatching and shoreline recreation.
The park includes large tidal marshes and mudflats (notably the Emeryville Crescent and Albany mudflats) that support thousands of shorebirds and important waterbird habitat, plus upland areas that host grassland and meadow species.
Managed in partnership with regional agencies and renamed to honor Save the Bay co‑founder Sylvia McLaughlin, the park is highly visible and accessible from Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Albany and Richmond, and is crossed by the San Francisco Bay Trail where visitors enjoy panoramic bay views, informal beaches and wildlife viewing from numerous access points.
Public amenities and access vary by site, there are seasonal and habitat protections in sensitive areas, and visitors should follow posted rules, watch for tide and water‑safety advisories, and check current access details before planning a visit.
