Park
Mendocino Woodlands State Park is a 700–720 acre redwood forest retreat east of Mendocino that functions as a historic group‑camping and environmental education center built in the 1930s and designated a National Historic Landmark.
The park contains three rustic camp areas with cabins, dining halls, kitchens and showers that host organized groups and seasonal camps, while a broad network of public trails (dozens of miles) winds through second‑growth coast redwoods, meadows, a beaver pond and riparian corridors.
Originally developed by New Deal programs, the Woodlands remains notable for its intact CCC/WPA wood‑and‑stone architecture, year‑round programing run by a nonprofit partner, strong outdoor‑education focus, and a quiet, forested setting where visitors can hike, bike and observe wildlife; groups should reserve cabins in advance and day visitors should check seasonal access and program schedules before arriving.
