Park
Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park spans 2,587 acres in Benton County, Tennessee, along the western shore of Kentucky Lake near Eva, established in 1929 and named for Confederate cavalry leader Nathan Bedford Forrest, who attacked the federal depot at Johnsonville in 1864.
Situated around Pilot Knob—one of West Tennessee's highest points at 656 feet—the park features the Tennessee River Folklife Interpretive Center interpreting 19th- and 20th-century river life through exhibits on musseling, fishing, and crafts, plus 25 miles of hiking trails, eight lakefront cabins, 50 campsites, swimming beaches, boat ramps, and fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish.
Developed by the Works Progress Administration, it offers picnicking, overlooks, and Civil War history amid ridges, hollows, and nearby marinas.
