Norristown Farm Park is a 690-acre Pennsylvania state park in East Norriton, West Norriton Townships, and Norristown Borough in Montgomery County, operating as a working farm since colonial times on land once part of William Penn's 7,000-acre Williamstadt tract.
Transferred through Isaac Norris—the namesake of Norristown—and later sold to the state, it surrounded Norristown State Hospital from the 1870s, where patients farmed as therapy until 1975, before Montgomery County leased it in 1992 to create the park with historic buildings dating to 1764.
Today, it features hiking trails, picnic areas, a trout nursery, diverse wildlife including 173 bird species, old fields, wetlands, two streams, and 450 acres still actively farmed amid urban surroundings.
