Park
Pacheco State Park is a broad, rolling‑hill park on the Diablo Range near Pacheco Pass that protects roughly 6,800 acres of grasslands, oak woodlands and seasonal ponds with sweeping views of the Central Valley and Santa Clara Valley.
The park offers about 28 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding (no dogs on trails), dramatic spring wildflower displays, and historic features such as an old Butterfield Stage route, a line shack and adobe ruins that reflect the area’s rancho and ranching past.
Much of the eastern portion remains closed because of wind‑farm infrastructure, there are no potable water sources or camping facilities inside the park, and visitors should plan for limited services, bring water and sun protection, check current day‑use hours and fees, and verify trail or access notices before going.
