Pacific Science Center, Washington, United States

Science Museum

The Pacific Science Center in Seattle was originally built as the United States Science Pavilion for the 1962 Century 21 Exposition, also known as the Seattle World's Fair.

Designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, the center features iconic illuminated towers topped with open-ribbed arches, which have become architectural landmarks. Since opening, it has hosted over a million visitors each year and offers a wide variety of interactive science exhibits, educational programs, and theaters, including one of the largest laser domes and IMAX theaters in the world.

The center grew significantly in the 1980s under executive director George Moynihan, gaining national recognition with exhibits like China: 7000 Years of Discovery. It continues to inspire curiosity and learning with its innovative spaces and engaging science experiences, blending mid-century modern design with a mission to make science accessible to all ages.
