Park
Promised Land State Park covers about 3,000 acres on the Pocono Plateau at 1,800 feet elevation in Pike County, Pennsylvania, surrounded by 12,464 acres of Delaware State Forest.
Located 10 miles north of Canadensis along PA Route 390, this fourth-oldest state park—opened in 1905 with Civilian Conservation Corps improvements—features beech, oak, maple, and hemlock forests plus two lakes for boating, fishing stocked with bass, trout, and perch, seasonal swimming beaches, and rustic cabins.
It offers 50 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and skiing, hunting for deer and bear, picnicking, ice skating, and wildlife viewing in bogs shaped by ancient glaciers.
