Tourist Attraction
Rainbow Bridge National Monument in southern Utah is home to one of the world's largest natural bridges, spanning 275 feet wide and rising 290 feet high.
Formed over millions of years by the erosive power of water on Navajo sandstone, it is considered sacred by the Navajo people, who call it Nonnezoshe, meaning “rainbow turned to stone.” The monument covers 160 acres on the northwestern side of Navajo Mountain within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
The site is most commonly accessed by a two-hour boat ride across Lake Powell followed by a short hike, though longer, more challenging hikes overland are also possible with a Navajo Nation permit. Surrounded by rugged canyons and desert landscapes, Rainbow Bridge offers stunning views and a rich cultural significance, making it both a natural wonder and a revered spiritual landmark.
