Park
Samuel P. Taylor State Park is a 2,700–2,900 acre Marin County park of redwood groves, open grasslands and streamside habitat centered on Lagunitas Creek and former mill-era lands owned by 19th-century entrepreneur Samuel P. Taylor.
The park offers a network of mostly easy-to-moderate hiking and biking trails (including a paved, nearly level multiuse trail along an old rail grade), campgrounds and cabins, picnic areas and an equestrian campground, making it popular for day hikes, overnight camping and family outings.
Notable natural features include towering coast redwoods in shady canyon bottoms, oak‑covered hills, abundant spring wildflowers and salmon and steelhead runs in the park’s creeks, and visitors should expect limited services in places, seasonal trail conditions, and to check current park notices and reservations before visiting.
