Park
Sue-meg State Park, formerly Patrick's Point State Park, spans 640 acres on a forested promontory near Trinidad in Humboldt County, California, along the Redwood Coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
It features dense spruce, hemlock, pine, fir, and red alder forests, wildflower meadows, sheer cliffs, sandy Agate Beach for agate hunting and driftwood collecting, tide pools teeming with marine life, and abundant wildlife like sea lions, seals, gray whales, and black bears.
Renamed in 2021 to honor its Yurok heritage—"Sue-meg" meaning the original indigenous name—the park offers a reconstructed Yurok plank-house village, native plant garden, visitor center, 120 campsites across three family areas plus hiker/biker and group sites with coin showers and picnic spots, short coastal trails to Wedding Rock overlook, and summer docent-led hikes, though rough surf discourages swimming.
