Amusement Park
Valleyfair is a 90-acre amusement park located in Shakopee, Minnesota, about 18 miles southwest of Minneapolis.
It opened on May 25, 1976, initially featuring 20 rides on 26 acres, including the wooden roller coaster High Roller, which remains the park's oldest ride. Since then, Valleyfair has grown to include over 75 rides and attractions spread across 90 acres, including eight roller coasters and a water park called Soak City, which is included with admission.
The park was developed with a county fair theme, featuring staff dressed in early 20th-century style costumes. It became part of Cedar Fair, a company formed in 1983 that operates several amusement parks. Valleyfair is known as the largest roller coaster destination in Minnesota and a popular family-friendly destination in the Upper Midwest, offering a mix of thrill rides, kiddie rides, and water attractions, making it a vital entertainment hub in the region.
