Weinberg-King State Fish and Wildlife Area encompasses 772 acres of rolling hills and a meandering creek in Schuyler County, western Illinois, about 3 miles east of Augusta off Route 101.
Donated starting with 500 acres by Mrs. Gertrude K. Allen in 1968 and expanded by 295 acres, it sits on glacial till revealing Pennsylvanian sandstone, with ponds stocked for bass, bluegill, catfish, and a 1-acre pond near the equestrian campground. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy nearly 30 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting upland game like squirrels, doves, quail, rabbits, woodcock, deer, and turkey, plus 19 full-hookup campsites open year-round amid diverse wildlife habitats.
