Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM), located at Ken Jernstedt Airfield in Hood River, Oregon, opened in 2007 founded by Terry Brandt with 42 aircraft and 20 cars in a 50,000-square-foot building, expanding to nearly 200,000 square feet across four hangars by 2016 housing over 170 flyable antique airplanes mostly from 1903-1941, 210 drivable automobiles from 1900-1960s, 30 motorcycles, tractors, and military vehicles all maintained operational by volunteers.
The nonprofit showcases American aviation and auto history including OX-5-powered planes, three-cylinder radials, a 1900 Locomobile steam car, 1917 Curtiss JN-4D Jenny, and rare 1913 IH Auto Wagon through static displays, monthly Second Saturday events with flying and driving demos, and the annual Hood River Fly-In.
Open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except major holidays with $21 admission, gift shop, snacks, and wheelchair access amid Columbia Gorge scenery, it preserves living relics drawing enthusiasts worldwide for interactive history.
